The Lan Ba Royal Pop Monocoque GT is the chronograph-styled evolution of the first British-machined aluminium wrist case engineered for the Savonnette format of the Audemars Piguet × Swatch Royal Pop. Milled from a single block of 7075 aerospace-grade aluminium at a precision engineering facility in Bicester, Oxfordshire. The same facility manufactures components for Formula 1, MotoGP, and aerospace clients.

The GT profile

The GT takes the Monocoque's case and gives it the silhouette of a sports chronograph. Two machined pushers sit at 2 and 4 o'clock. Integral crown guards flank the Royal Pop's crown at 3. The result is a case with more shoulder, more presence, and a wrist profile closer to the racing chronographs it borrows from.

The pushers are purely aesthetic. They do not press, actuate, or operate anything. The Royal Pop is a time-only watch and the GT does not change that. It just makes it look like it has somewhere to be.

The crown guards are functional in the simplest sense. They sit proud of the crown and take the knocks so the Bioceramic crown doesn't have to. The crown remains fully accessible for setting the time.

The Monocoque GT is limited to 500 pieces. Each case is laser etched with its individual number, from 1/500 to 500/500, on the reverse. 

The material

The 7075 aluminium is supplied to AMS 4124 (Aerospace Material Specification) by a UK aerospace metals stockist whose approved supply chain includes Airbus, Bombardier, Leonardo, and Rolls Royce. Material certified to ISO 9001, AS/EN 9100, and EN 9120. These are the aerospace industry's quality management standards. The same alloy is used for aircraft structural parts and motorsport gears and shafts.

Most aftermarket Royal Pop wrist solutions are cast ceramic, moulded FKM rubber, or injection-moulded plastic. The Monocoque GT is none of these. It is a structural aluminium case milled to motorsport tolerance, designed as a serious aftermarket accessory for the most-discussed watch launch of 2026.

The Monolock™ system, Savonnette configuration

The Lan Ba is one of only two Savonnette variants in the Royal Pop collection, with the crown at 3 o'clock. That is exactly where the GT puts its crown guards and pushers. The Monocoque GT secures your Royal Pop using the proprietary Monolock™ system. Machining the case aperture to the exact dimensions of the watch would make it impossible to seat the Royal Pop without forcing it. Instead, the aperture is cut a few microns oversize, and two K-Clips take up the difference, drawing the watch into a precise, secure fit against the case. The result is a smooth seat with no forcing, no stress, and no risk to the Bioceramic.

The Lan Ba

The Lan Ba is the Mandarin-named Savonnette in blue. Light blue Bioceramic bezel, blue tapisserie dial, blue crown, eight blue hex screws. The most restrained variant in the collection, which makes it the ideal candidate for a little extra attitude. The Blue Aluminium Monocoque GT extends the light blue bezel across the wrist for a unified blue-on-blue effect, with the pushers and guards reading as one continuous form. The Silver Aluminium case is the neutral foundation, keeping the focus on the dial while letting the chronograph profile do the talking.
