Panerai Fine Grain Calfskin Leather Watch Strap

Crafted from full grain Italian calfskin, this strap combines subtle texture with daily wearability. The fine grain adds soft structure and visual depth without overpowering the watch, while the padded profile and refined taper provide comfort and balance on the wrist. On a 44mm Luminor or 45mm Radiomir, the understated grain works in favour of the dial. Panerai's clean sandwich dials and oversized numerals are already doing the visual work. The strap's job is to support that without competing. A heavily textured or embossed leather can fight the watch for attention. A fine grain calfskin sits beneath it quietly and lets the case do the talking.

Each strap is hand finished in Italy by Morellato, with sealed edges, tonal stitching, and a brushed stainless steel buckle discreetly engraved on the reverse. Morellato has been making straps in the Veneto region since 1930. Panerai was founded in Florence in 1860. Italian leather on an Italian watch is not a styling choice. It is the natural pairing.

The padded profile matters more on a Panerai than on most watches. A 44mm Luminor weighs over 100g. The case is tall, the lugs are wide, and the strap bears significant load across the top of the wrist. Light padding distributes that weight across a broader contact area rather than concentrating it along two narrow edges. The result is a strap that feels comfortable at hour eight in a way that an unpadded strap cannot match. The fine grain surface also develops a patina with wear. Within the first few weeks, the leather begins to darken at the pressure points and soften where it wraps the wrist. It ages into your watch rather than away from it.

Available in four bold, oil-rich tones designed to complement both modern and classic Panerai references. Brown suits the sandwich dial Luminor with warm lume. Black is the formal default across every collection. Navy and green offer a tonal alternative to match the blue and green dial Submersibles and Luminor Dues without being exact.

Fitting your Panerai:

Current production models (PAM01312, PAM01539, and most references from 2018 onward): These accept standard spring bars. Fit this strap directly using the spring bars included. A standard spring bar tool is all you need.

Older Luminor models with the screw bar and tube system (PAM00111, PAM00112, PAM01000, PAM00773 and similar): These use threaded screw bars and metal tubes. Fit this strap using your existing Panerai screw bars and the screwdriver that came with your watch. Remove the tubes from your old strap and thread them into this one. Alternatively, aftermarket spring bar replacements for Panerai are widely available and eliminate the need for screws entirely.

Luminor 1950 models with the quick-release push-button system: Use the two-pin Panerai tool that came in your box to release the existing strap, then fit this strap using the included spring bars or your existing Panerai bars.

If you are unsure which system your Panerai uses, check the back of the lugs. A visible push-button means the quick-release system. Visible screw heads mean the screw bar system. Neither visible means standard spring bars.
