Conceived in collaboration with Morellato, one of Italy's most storied leather ateliers with roots stretching back over a century, this alligator-embossed leather strap is a study in understated refinement. Every detail has been considered: the deep, hand-pressed grain that faithfully replicates the dimensional texture of genuine alligator hide, the matte finish that catches light with just the right restraint, and the supple nubuck lining, lightly padded to breathe against the wrist over long hours of wear.

Panerai was founded in Florence. Italian leather is not just aesthetically correct on a Panerai. It is historically correct. The Luminor and Radiomir have shipped on Italian leather from the factory since the brand's first civilian models in 1993. The alligator-embossed grain gives the Luminor's cushion case the visual weight it needs without the cost, import restrictions, or ethical complications of genuine exotic hide. On a 44mm Luminor Marina or a 45mm Radiomir, the deep texture fills the wide 24mm lug gap with a strap that looks proportionally right. Thinner, plainer leathers can look lost on a case this size. This one holds its own.

The nubuck lining is what separates this from embossed straps that look good in photos but feel cheap on the wrist. Nubuck breathes. It contours to the wrist shape within the first few days of wear rather than fighting it. On a watch you are wearing for 10 or 12 hours at a stretch, the lining is where comfort lives. The light padding beneath adds just enough structure to keep the strap from collapsing between the lugs without making it stiff or bulky.

Finished with a polished stainless steel buckle and sealed edges that resist fraying over time. Sized to fit wrists from 6 to 8 inches. Built for daily wear that does not ask you to choose between comfort and elegance.

Fitting your Panerai:

Current production models (PAM01312, PAM01539, and most references from 2018 onward): These accept standard spring bars. Fit this strap directly using the spring bars included. A standard spring bar tool is all you need.

Older Luminor models with the screw bar and tube system (PAM00111, PAM00112, PAM01000, PAM00773 and similar): These use threaded screw bars and metal tubes. Fit this strap using your existing Panerai screw bars and the screwdriver that came with your watch. Remove the tubes from your old strap and thread them into this one. Alternatively, aftermarket spring bar replacements for Panerai are widely available and eliminate the need for screws entirely.

Luminor 1950 models with the quick-release push-button system: Use the two-pin Panerai tool that came in your box to release the existing strap, then fit this strap using the included spring bars or your existing Panerai bars.

If you are unsure which system your Panerai uses, check the back of the lugs. A visible push-button means the quick-release system. Visible screw heads mean the screw bar system. Neither visible means standard spring bars.
