NEW! Swatch x OMEGA MoonSwatch Mission to EarthPhase

Let’s cut to the chase MoonSwatch fans, this one’s for you! Swatch x OMEGA has done it again, and this time, it’s the MoonSwatch Mission to EarthPhase, hitting select stores globally on November 2nd.

Imagine the look of the classic Mission to Moon or Mercury with a bit more flavour, grey case, black tachymeter, familiar vibe but with a little twist, this watch doesn’t just show the Moon Phase. For the first time, we’re getting an Earth Phase, and it’s enough to make even the most casual watch fan curious!

The First Dual Phase MoonSwatch

Swatch X OMEGA's new Earth phase function goes beyond just adding a second indicator, it’s designed to capture how Earth’s phases would look from the surface of the Moon. While the Moon Phase cycles as you’d expect, the new Earth phase displayed at the 10 o'clock sub dial rotates in reverse, showing off all 29.5 days of Earth’s light and shadow as seen from space. It’s a quirky, smart feature that brings an entirely new perspective to the Swatch x OMEGA MoonSwatch line up, and as far as we're aware this is the first time that a complication of this kind has made an appearance on watch.

The lower half of the Earth Phase sub dial features subtle shadowing, evoking the feeling of standing on the moon and gazing back at Earth. This thoughtful design element creates a story whilst cleverly making the semi circular sub dial appear as a full, rounded feature.

Outside of this new feature the rest of the build is classic MoonSwatch Moonphase, the well know 42mm light grey Bioceramic case with that matte, tactile finish Swatch does so well. It’s thin enough to feel wearable but still has enough wrist presence, and the black VELCRO® strap with its subtle grey stitching gives it a nice everyday appeal. This is one that feels good to strap on and doesn’t beg for special occasions.

A Design Inspired by Space

The idea behind the Mission to EarthPhase isn’t overly complex—it’s Earth as seen from the Moon (hence the early Galileo ties), and that inspiration carries through in the design. The dial has a stunning textured grey surface that mirrors the rough, cratered landscape we imagine on the Moon. The black tachymeter bezel with grey markers gives it that familiar MoonSwatch aesthetic, and there’s even a nod to Neil Armstrong with an etching of his footprint on the battery cover.

Earth in UV Details That Pop in the Dark

For anyone who loves the MoonSwatch’s night glow, the EarthPhase doesn’t disappoint. The two moons in the moon phase display are coated in Super-LumiNova® for a clean, gentle glow. But the star of the show is the Earth phase indicator, where Swatch has treated the oceans with UV-coated ink, adding a soft blue glow under black light. It’s a feature that captures Earth’s atmosphere in a way that’s surprisingly compelling, especially if you’re someone who loves these little details.

Mission To EarthPhase Strap Options

One of the best things about the MoonSwatch is how customisable they are and the Mission to EarthPhase is no exception. MGBWATCHES has put together a range of compatible straps so you can switch up the look and add your own unique touch.

Our 20MM straps swap out in seconds, so you can easily adapt your watch to whatever look you’re after. It’s a small touch that adds great versatility and makes it a great everyday watch.

So Where Does this EarthPhase Fit Into Growing MoonSwatch Collection?

To date, we’ve seen three MoonSwatch Moonphases, all released in 2024. The Black and White Snoopy Moonphase, which debuted in March/April, introduced this new complication with a charming twist, featuring the lovable beagle in place of the traditional moon design.

More recently, from August 1st to 19th, we had the limited Super Blue Moonphase—a highly sought-after piece that sold exclusively during that brief period. Now, with this fourth iteration, we have an exciting new addition to this evolving Moonphase series.

With the new Earth phase, Swatch is adding a playful, thoughtful twist on a modern classic. Branded with OMEGA, Swatch, Speedmaster, and featuring a whole new complication, it’s a blend of timeless design has enough freshness to make it feel different.. and we cannot wait to get our hands on one!
