Swatch August 1st-19th Teaser | A Seasonal Moon?

Swatch August 1st-19th Teaser | A Seasonal Moon?

Swatch has just dropped a new August teaser on their socials, and everyone is scrambling to decipher it's secrets. This teaser hints at something extraordinary – could it be an exlusive "Seasonal Moon" MoonSwatch? If you’re a watch enthusiast with an eye for the hyped and hard to obtain, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. Let's dive into the mystery and excitement surrounding Swatch’s latest teaser.

The Teaser

Swatch’s teasers are always packed with subtle hints and clues, and this one is no exception. The teaser, features a series of cryptic visuals and intriguing phrases that have set the rumour mill spinning. But what does it all mean?

Our Thoughts | Decoding the Teaser

We're going to put it out there – and it's always fun to speculate – we think this might be a Mission to Moonphase, Snoopy MoonSwatch in Blue ...

Why?

The large moon in the teaser clearly signifies a connection to the MoonSwatch series. The month of August is known for the Blue Moon, a month that contains two full moons due to the 29.5-day lunar cycle.

Within the teaser, In the reflection of the water, you can see two full moons that then recede into half crescent moons, which suspiciously resemble the moonphase sub dial on the current Mission To Moonphase, Snoopy MoonSwatch.

Furthermore, the blue hour neon light shown on the beach hut is significant:

The blue hour occurs just after sunset or just before sunrise when the sky takes on a deep blue hue, and the landscape is bathed in a bluish light. This period is perfect for photographing the moon, as its glare is less intense. Despite its name, the blue hour only lasts about 20 to 30 minutes.

For example, if the sun sets at 5 p.m., the blue hour would be from approximately 5:10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. If the sun rises at 5 a.m., the blue hour would be from about 4:30 a.m. to 4:50 a.m.

This ties in perfectly with the teaser’s suggestion of release dates for the watch being August 1-19, specifically referencing "But only after 5PM." This is a clear link to the Blue Hour phenomenon.

The blue hour is also associated with the French expression 'entre chien et loup,' which translates to 'between dog and wolf.' This phrase describes the Blue Hour dusk or twilight, a time when the light is so dim that it's difficult to distinguish a dog from a wolf.

This could be a further nod to the lovable Beagle, Snoopy

August Blue Moon

The next seasonal blue moon is expected on August 19, 2024.

While the term "blue moon" doesn't mean the moon actually turns blue, it can appear blue under certain atmospheric conditions, such as after volcanic eruptions or forest fires, due to the scattering of red light by particles in the atmosphere.

Swatch celebrated this phenomenon in August 2023 with the release of the Swatch x OMEGA Moonshine Gold | Blue Moon [S033N101-108], as part of the year long release of the Swatch X OMEGA MoonShine Gold Editions.

Blue Moon Swatch

As always, the speculation and hype are fun, and undoubtedly more teasers will follow. But with this potentially being a limited run from Swatch (August 1st to 19th), it's time to dust off the camping chairs and get yourself ready to queue once more!
