The AP × Swatch Royal Pop in the UK: Price, Where to Buy and How to Wear It
Updated October 2026. This article first ran before the launch and has been rewritten for buyers and owners today.
The AP × Swatch Royal Pop is the best-looking Swatch since the first MoonSwatch, and the most awkward to live with. It is a pocket watch. There is no wrist option in the box. If you came here to find out what it costs, where you can still get one and what to do once you have it, that is the whole story in three lines, and the rest of this piece fills in the detail.
Buying one in the UK means walking into a Swatch store. Buying one safely means knowing what a fair price looks like. Wearing one on your wrist means a case, and that is the one part of this we can speak about with authority.
Want it on your wrist? The Royal Pop has no lugs, so an ordinary strap will not fit. The answer is a wrist case built around the watch's own clip. Our Royal Pop buying guide compares every route side by side, and the full strap and bracelet collection is where to browse once you've chosen.
What the Royal Pop actually is
Audemars Piguet's announcement is dated 13 May 2026. The collection comes in eight models, all in bioceramic, with sapphire crystal front and back. Inside is a new hand-wound version of Swatch's Sistem51 movement, quoted by Audemars Piguet at over 90 hours of power reserve. Hand-wound is the interesting bit. Swatch's usual Sistem51 winds itself, so this is a different animal, and a more honest one for a pocket watch.
The shape is the Royal Oak octagon with eight screws on the bezel, and it is unmistakable even at this size. Six of the eight models have the crown at twelve (Lépine): Ocho Negro, Huit Blanc, Green Eight, Blaue Acht, Otto Rosso and Orenji Hachi. Two have it at three (Savonnette): Lan Ba and OTG Roz.
My view of the design is simple. It is clever and slightly absurd, in the best Swatch way. The lanyard and clip frame it ships with are charming for about a week. Then most people want it on a wrist, which is a fair reason to be reading this.
UK price and availability
Price. Swatch's own UK product pages, checked on 10 October 2026, list the Green Eight, Otto Rosso and Orenji Hachi at £350, and the two Savonnettes we checked, Lan Ba and OTG Roz, at £370. We did not check the other three models. Launch-day reporting in May gave £335 for the Lépine models and £350 for the Savonnettes, so the current Swatch figures are higher than the launch coverage. Treat the Swatch UK page as the number that counts.
Availability. Swatch states that the collection is "available for purchase only at selected Swatch stores worldwide", with purchases limited to one watch per person, per day, per store. We found no add-to-cart option on the Swatch UK pages we checked. Swatch does not show live stock, so ring the store before you travel.
Resale. Secondary-market asking prices have run well above retail since launch and move around, so we are not quoting one. Asking prices are not sale prices, and none of this is investment advice. Buy it because you want to wear it.
How to buy one without getting burned
The cheapest legitimate route is the one that looks like a hassle. Go to a Swatch store, ask what's in, and be prepared to be told nothing is. Launch coverage listed 13 UK stores that took part: Battersea Power Station, Carnaby Street, Covent Garden, Oxford Street and Westfield White City in London, then Birmingham Bullring, Cardiff St Davids, Edinburgh Princes Street, Glasgow Buchanan Galleries, Liverpool Paradise Street, Manchester Trafford Centre, Newcastle Metro Centre and Sheffield Meadowhall. Stock, if any, varies by store and by day. Swatch's store locator is the only source worth trusting for the current list, because that launch list is a record of May, not a promise about today.
If you miss out, you are in the resale world, and that is where fakes live. Be suspicious of any seller who will not show you the actual watch, the box, the warranty card and the receipt. Yes, we sell Royal Pops too, when we can source them from boutiques, and you can see what's live in our Royal Pop collection. No, that isn't why this paragraph is here: the same checks apply to us. Our authenticity guide explains what a genuine one looks like and what we do to prove ours are.

The watch head on its own. Small, octagonal and nothing to pin a strap to.
Wearing it: the short version
Because there are no lugs, the Royal Pop will not take a standard strap, and a MoonSwatch strap definitely won't fit. Everything that works is a case that grips the watch's own clip. I'd choose in this order. If you want one watch that can look different every week, the Monocoque case is the answer, and it is the only route where the strap is a separate part. If you want a clean, one-piece look that blends with the watch, a polymer-ceramic bracelet is the one. The steel bracelet is heavier and, for me, a bit much on something this light.
Check your crown position before you order, because Lépine and Savonnette watches need different cases. The full comparison, with the trade-offs, is in the Royal Pop strap and bracelet guide. If you'd rather start with the story behind our own case, we wrote up why we built the Monocoque in Britain. Our polymer-ceramic and steel bracelets have their own collection.

Ocho Negro in the Monocoque. Same watch, now a wristwatch.
Pocket watch first, wristwatch second
It helps to be clear about what you're buying. The watch head measures about 40mm across and 8.4mm thick, and it sits in a 53.2mm clip frame with a calfskin lanyard. Those are the dimensions in our own strap guide, so measure yours if it matters. On the wrist, the head alone is smaller than most dress watches, which is why it works as a wristwatch so well once it has a case. The octagon looks right at that size.
The flip side is that the frame and lanyard are the whole official wearing story. Swatch has not made a wrist version, and that gap is exactly why the conversion market exists. Pick the case with care, because the watch itself is hand-wound and bioceramic, and you don't want a poor fit chipping the corners.
Which model, if you only get one chance
Take the colour you can live with, not the one you've been told to chase. A Royal Pop on your wrist beats one in a drawer. If you need a steer, the Green Eight and Ocho Negro Monocoque cases are our two best-selling Royal Pop products over the last 90 days, which tells you what people end up wearing. The model matters less than the crown position, because that decides which case you need.
If it were mine
I'd buy it from Swatch if I could, from someone I trusted if I couldn't, and I'd put it in a case within the week. I'd skip anything sold as a universal adapter, and I'd skip paying a speculative premium for a colour I didn't love.
Earlier coverage
We covered this watch from the first rumours. Our reveal breakdown has the model-by-model detail, and our January 2024 piece shows what we called early.
Swatch made a pocket watch for the poster. Making it a watch you'll actually wear takes a case and about two minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Can you still buy the Royal Pop from Swatch in the UK?
Swatch says the collection is available only at selected Swatch stores, and it does not display live stock on its UK product pages. Availability varies by store and changes day to day, so contact the store or use Swatch's store locator before you travel.
Can you buy the Royal Pop online from Swatch?
Not that we have found. The Swatch UK product pages we checked on 10 October 2026 had no add-to-cart option and directed buyers to a store locator. Check Swatch's own site for any change.
Is there a limit on how many Royal Pops you can buy?
Swatch's product pages say purchases are limited to one watch per person, per day, and per store. Because the limit is per store, some collectors visit more than one location.
What movement is inside the Royal Pop?
Audemars Piguet describes a new hand-wound version of Swatch's Sistem51 movement with over 90 hours of power reserve and an anti-magnetic Nivachron balance spring. It has no battery and no automatic winding.
Is the Royal Pop a limited edition?
Audemars Piguet's announcement describes eight models and gives no production number. Neither brand's pages that we checked state a limit on total production, so be wary of anyone quoting one as fact.
Does the Royal Pop come with a lanyard?
Yes. It comes as a pocket watch in a clip frame with a calfskin lanyard in a matching colour, as described in our authenticity guide for boutique-sourced stock. It has no wrist strap or bracelet in the box.
