SOTHEBY'S DAY SIX: AUCTION ROUND UP

At 17:00 GMT, the combined bids for all lots have surged to an impressive 364,000 Swiss francs, marking a noteworthy increase of 52,000 CHF compared to the previous day. Notably, there has been a significant uptick in activity for the London lot, with a 8,000 CHF increase in the past 24 hours, totalling 35,000 CHF in bids!

Yet, leading the pack and capturing the spotlight is the JFK New York lot, boasting an impressive bid of 42,000 CHF (£38,000 / $47,000). This bid exceeds Sotheby's initial predictions by more than fourfold, underscoring the intense interest and enthusiastic bidding for these exclusive timepieces.

THE SIXTH MOONSHINE EDITION: SWISS MOON

Switzerland's National Day on August 1st is a special celebration. It marks the day when three countries, Schwyz, Uri, and Unterwalden, agreed to work together and become one nation; an action which later came to be regarded as the founding of Switzerland!

The country started celebrating this day officially in 1994. Since then, every year on August 1st, the Swiss people celebrate; bonfires, paper lantern parades, and lots of Swiss flags. It's like a big party to remember and celebrate how the country began!

This day is undoubtedly very special for the Swiss people and for the two prominent brands behind these marvellous watches. The Swatch Group, a Swiss brand that also owns Omega, sought to create something to make their country proud.

Swiss MoonShine Watch

The newest addition to the MoonShine collection was available in even more cities than before, reaching 85 cities worldwide. This special one-day offer took place on August 1st, in line with National Swiss day. Fortunately, for those in the UK (ourselves included), this watch was exclusively sold at the Covent Garden Swatch Store.

Similar to it's predecessor, the Strawberry Moon, also boasts a seconds hand coated with OMEGA’s Moonshine™ Gold and an emblematic Swiss lantern pattern. These distinctive seconds hands were exclusively crafted during the full moon of July. The reflective shine of the red and gold colours combined beautifully, rendering this watch truly special and visually striking. It truly pays homage to the Swiss-made heritage of the OMEGA and Swatch brands.

The watch saw an incredible reception from the fans, with queues snaking around the streets once more, including a staggering 12-hour wait in Covent Garden! It has become highly sought after and exceptionally rare watch to find pre-owned. Since it will never be sold in stores again, this auction presents a unique opportunity for you to own one for yourself!
