Product Description
This is the strap a dress watch was designed to wear. Genuine alligator, cut and hand-stitched in Italy, with the large rectangular belly scales that separate real alligator from embossed calf. No two straps carry the same pattern.
The profile is flat. It sits low under a cuff and lets the case do the talking, which is the whole point of a Cartier Tank, a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, a vintage Omega De Ville or a slim Patek Calatrava. The natural sheen is the skin itself, not a lacquer, so it softens and deepens with wear rather than cracking.
Edges are cut rather than painted and finished with a hand stitch. The strap tapers to a 14mm gold-tone buckle, the correct proportion for a vintage or gold-cased dress watch. Fitted to a black or white dial in gold, it disappears in the best possible way.
Who it fits
Cartier Tank Louis, Tank Must and Tank Américaine in their larger sizes, plus most vintage and modern dress watches with 18mm or 20mm lugs. Many smaller Tanks take 16mm or 17mm, so check your lug width before ordering. It takes ten seconds and saves a return.
