Monocoque Fitting, Use & Liability Policy | MGB Watches

By purchasing and using the Monocoque, you agree to this policy. It sets out how to fit and use the product safely, your responsibilities, and the basis of our liability. Nothing in this policy affects or removes your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and nothing in it should be read as excluding any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

1. The product and its purpose

1.1 The Monocoque is a precision-engineered aluminium case that holds the AP × Swatch Royal Pop for wrist wear, using the Monolock™ retention system and K-Clips.
1.2 Used correctly and fitted as instructed, the Monocoque is designed to hold the watch securely for everyday wear.

2. Fitting — your responsibility

2.1 Clear fitting instructions are supplied with every Monocoque and are available on our website. You must follow them each time you fit the watch.
2.2 Choosing your fit:

  • One K-Clip gives a firm, secure fit suited to wearers who intend to rotate the watch in and out regularly (for example, daily or weekly). It holds the watch securely while allowing easier removal.
  • Two K-Clips give a more permanent fit, advised for wearers who do not intend to remove the Royal Pop from the Monocoque.
    2.3 To fit the watch, position it completely square and fully aligned: seat the 6 o'clock end first, ensure it is fully and evenly seated at the base, then press the 12 o'clock end down until you hear and feel the K-Clip click positively into place.
    2.4 The watch is correctly secured only when: it sits completely square in the case; the K-Clip (or K-Clips) has clicked fully and positively into engagement; and the watch does not move, lift, or rock when gently tested at all four edges.
    2.5 If the watch is not square, does not click fully into place, or moves when tested, it is not secured. Do not wear it. Remove it gently and refit, or contact us at [email protected].
    2.6 Never use excessive force to insert or remove the watch.

3. Conditions of use

3.1 The Monocoque is designed for everyday wear. Reasonable care should be taken, as with any worn item of value.
3.2 Showering and swimming pool use is acceptable. Exposure to salt water is not advised, and the Monocoque is not intended for diving, or deep-water immersion.
3.3 The Monocoque is not intended for exposure to chemicals, solvents, or cleaning agents, or to extreme heat, pressure, or high-impact activity.
3.4 The Royal Pop has its own water resistance and use limitations specified by Swatch. The Monocoque does not add to or alter the watch's water resistance; please observe Swatch's guidance.
3.5 Regular maintenance is recommended: rinse with clean fresh water to remove sweat or residue, and dry before wear.

4. Fit characteristics

4.1 The K-Clips are made from an engineered polymer, chosen to cushion the watch and reduce direct contact between the Bioceramic and the aluminium case.
4.2 Because the Monocoque holds the watch firmly and precisely, there are limited points of contact between watch and case. This is necessary to hold the watch securely and is normal for a precision-fit case. Fitting the watch square and as instructed ensures the intended fit.

5. Our responsibility to you

5.1 We are responsible for supplying a Monocoque that is of satisfactory quality, as described, and fit for its intended purpose, in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. We do not exclude or limit this.
5.2 If your Monocoque is defective, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund under your statutory rights, and we will honour those rights in full.
5.3 The K-Clips are covered for two years; we will replace a failed K-Clip within that period free of charge.

6. Limits of our liability

6.1 Subject to clause 5 and clause 6.4, we are not liable for loss of or damage to your Royal Pop watch or other property where that loss or damage results from:

  • failure to fit the watch as instructed, including failure to seat it square or to engage the K-Clip fully;
  • choosing a single-K-Clip rotating fit where the watch is then subjected to use beyond normal everyday wear;
  • failure to check the watch is secured before wear, as set out in clause 2.4;
  • use of excessive force in fitting or removal;
  • accidental impact, dropping, or crushing;
  • use in conditions excluded under clause 3, including water and chemical exposure;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • alteration, repair, or modification by anyone other than us.
    6.2 The Monocoque holds your watch securely when used correctly, but it is a wearable accessory and not a guarantee against accidental loss or damage. You remain responsible for taking reasonable care.
    6.3 Where we are liable for loss or damage that was a foreseeable result of a defect in the Monocoque, our liability is determined in accordance with your statutory rights and applicable law.
    6.4 Nothing in this policy excludes or limits our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; breach of the statutory rights set out in clause 5; or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

7. Your watch and insurance

7.1 Your Royal Pop remains your property and your responsibility at all times.
7.2 As with any item of significant value, we strongly recommend insuring your watch against accidental loss or damage. The Monocoque does not replace appropriate insurance.

8. General

8.1 This policy is governed by the law of England and Wales.
8.2 If any provision of this policy is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.
8.3 We may update this policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your purchase applies to your order.
