We Love the MoonSwatch, But the Hunter’s Moon Makes No Sense
The Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch Mission to EarthPhase Moonshine Gold: The Hunter’s Moon has landed — and it’s left even long-time fans wondering what’s going on.
Here’s the short version.
1. The Magic Used to Be Simple
The first relaunch of the Moonshine Gold was electric.
The Sturgeon Moon dropped for one day only and felt like MoonSwatch’s greatest hits — Neptune blue, Super Blue white dial, the new EarthPhase, Snoopy on the dial, and a touch of 18ct Moonshine Gold.
It had charm, storytelling, and purpose.
Now we’re on the third version in two months. The Hunter’s Moon looks almost identical to August’s Snoopy EarthPhase edition. The only difference? A single gold hand reaching across the moonphase.
2. It’s Beautiful — But Familiar

Let’s be honest, it’s stunning. The navy Bioceramic case, white opaline dial, and gold detailing are all flawless. But they’re the same ingredients Swatch has used twice before.
Nothing about the watch feels fresh.
The colour palette hasn’t changed, the lume is still green, and the design remains virtually untouched.
3. What Does the Hand Even Mean?

The gold hand is meant to symbolise curiosity, courage, and exploration — ideas that suit Omega’s heritage.
It could also be Swatch’s way of saying “keep reaching,” but here it feels unclear.
There were more interesting ways to honour the Hunter’s Moon. A white Supermoon colourway for October, maybe a “bow and arrow” motif engraved on the caseback, or a lume pattern shaped like the full moon itself.
Instead, we got another navy-and-gold rerun.
4. The Drop Window Killed the Hype
Early Moonshine releases dropped for one day only, turning each full moon into an event.
The Hunter’s Moon is available from 7–21 October, stretching the window to two full weeks.
That’s convenience over excitement. The ritual that once made collectors queue at midnight has been replaced by routine.
5. Snoopy Deserves Better

The Snoopy partnership is one of Omega’s strongest storytelling assets. The Snoopy EarthPhase edition in August captured that perfectly.
This new model repeats the same trick without adding substance.
Same Snoopy. Same UV message. Same mood. The Hunter’s Moon borrows its magic but doesn’t build on it.
6. What Still Works
The EarthPhase complication is still genius.
It runs on a 29.5-day reverse cycle, showing Earth as seen from the Moon. When we see a full moon, the watch shows a new Earth.
That poetic inversion keeps the line from feeling purely decorative.
7. Why We’re Still Watching
Despite everything, the MoonSwatch remains one of the most creative projects in modern watchmaking. It still makes people smile, queue, and care.
But we’re ready for evolution again. The next release needs to move the story forward, not repeat it.
Maybe the golden hand is the hint — a reminder to reach for something new. Or maybe it’s just a symbol of how far the MoonSwatch story has drifted.
In Short:
- Gorgeous design, but déjà vu.
- Two-week release window, not special enough.
- Snoopy reused, symbolism unclear.
- Still worth loving — but hard to defend.
