The One Millionth MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune is Set for Charity Auction At Christies

That’s right—Swatch & Omega have hit an incredible milestone. The one millionth MoonSwatch, and it will soon be up for auction at Christie’s this November. This extraordinary timepiece, marking a major moment in the MoonSwatch journey, has come off the production line and been crafted with some unique features, including the Moonshine gold seconds hand and a special engraving under the battery cover. To top it off, it comes with a trophy stand engraved with "1,000,000" to commemorate its significance.

While it may resemble the Moonshine Gold edition introduced in August 2023, this Mission to Neptune holds a unique place in the collection and in the hearts of Swatch enthusiasts.

At MGB Watches, we’ve been closely following the evolution of the MoonSwatch—from its thrilling 2022 launch to the introduction of fan favourite models like the Snoopy and Mission to Earth collections. The upcoming charity auction marks yet another remarkable chapter in the MoonSwatch legacy, and we’re here to celebrate it with you. Collectors will know that the Mission To Neptune has been the most difficult to acquire from the core collection of 11 models. Swatch had to recall and remanufacture the early pieces due to blue ink transferring onto customers’ wrists. This 4-6 month delay in reworking the manufacturing process made Neptune's incredibly hard to obtain (and they still are!). Fitting that No. 1,000,000 is this rare and elusive watch.

Raising Funds for a Worthy Cause

The watch will be auctioned to raise funds for ELA International (European Leukodystrophy Association), a charity that supports research into leukodystrophy—a group of genetic disorders that affect the brain's white matter, predominantly impacting young children.

Alongside the MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune, other rare and prestigious timepieces will be auctioned for the cause. This is an opportunity to support a meaningful cause while getting your hands on a truly special watch.

MoonSwatch at Auction: Not the First, and Certainly Not the Last

This isn’t the first time Swatch has used the MoonSwatch to make a difference. Earlier this year, Sotheby’s auctioned off 11 briefcases, each containing all 11 Moonshine Gold versions, raising over £500,000 for the Orbis charity.

Now, the latest chapter unfolds at Christie’s Rare Watches sale in Geneva, set for 11th November. It’s an event not to be missed, especially for collectors who want to own a piece of MoonSwatch history while supporting a fantastic cause. We did notice in the press images that the strap seems to be fitted upside down without explanation, so it has sparked some curiosity; whether it’s an intentional design choice or a simple oversight, it’s definitely added a layer of intrigue to this already exciting event.

At MGBWATCHES, we’ll be watching this space closely as Swatch once again combines passion for watches with philanthropy. Stay tuned as the MoonSwatch Mission to Neptune makes its mark on the world—this time, for the greater good.
